SOLAR INTERNSHIPS- The Work Experience Program (WEX) is designed to allow under-skilled participants to gain knowledge and experience as an intern prior to being hired with your company as an apprentice. Solar Interns will gain work experience in Solar installation for a minimum of 4 to 12 weeks at NO COST to Solar Contractors. The County will pay the salaries of the Solar Interns during this time period. After gaining the work experience, the intern will transition into the Solar Installer Apprenticeship and begin working for your solar company as a direct hire.
INCUMBENT WORKERS – The Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program is designed to improve the skills of employees and the competitiveness of an employer. It is intended to retain skilled employees or avert a potential layoff. Many Solar Installers work for contractors but do not hold the necessary certifications. To ensure their growth, the Global Solar Apprenticeship can train current employees at NO COST to Solar Contractors with the Incumbent Workers Program funding.
